To the Family of Mary Rusch Wendlandt:
None of you know me--(I'm Eloise Weber Bienvenu)-- but I grew up with Mary on Martin Street in Campbellsport, WI. She was an "across the street" neighbor. We were all part of what at that time was called "Stork Avenue" because there were so many children on the street. I was a member of the Weber family along with the Hoffmann's, Baumhardt's, Steinacker's, and a couple more families who didn't have young children. We had lots of fun in those days--playing games in the evenings in the summer until the streetlights went on.
Ruth Hoffmann and I were best friends, and we used to go to visit Mary's mother when we came home on weekends from Milwaukee. She was a delightful woman, and Mary's picture reminds me very much of "Katie."
I hadn't known how talented Mary was and how much she was involved with her community and church because I moved to California and didn't get back to Wisconsin very often.
When I read her obituary in The Campbellsport News, I just had to send my condolences to the family of such an old-time friend. Of all the kids who grew up on Martin Street, now there are only two of us left--Ruth Hoffmann Hayward and me. We are one year older than Mary--94.
Again, my sincere sympathy on the death of your mother, my friend, Mary.

Dear Vicki, Bill, Don, Judy and your families,
My deepest sympathy to all of you as you honor and mourn the passing of dear Mother Mary. I am glad I got to spend some time with her at Dycora when she first settled in and joined Mom Drews as both received therapy and care at the center. I was there briefly on a visit from home in Florida, but I shared some meals and at times would wheel Mary to her room and felt so protective of her as one of my "second mothers," as I regarded her and a few other dear women from my childhood in Fort. Our families spent much time together through the years as we kids grew up---you were 1st our neighbors on Cramer St., friends through church, then always part of our holidays until all of us kids eventually left Fort. As a young girl, I sat next to Mary on my piano bench as she tried to teach me to play and even threw in some German lessons!
Visits to see us in Florida too in later years were so welcome and special.
Your dad even talked to my Mass Media class one year they visited with Mom and Dad, and my students loved him. I adored your folks and would always stop by and see them upon return visits to Fort! Your Mom was so bright and confident---she was a remarkable lady and she will be missed! Again, my condolences to all. Love, Brenda
