Very sad to see that he has already passed. I wanted to try to find him recently when I return to White Water. We had such incredible Hobbit Adventures spelunking camping. He was a great man intelligent and kind.Kevin Bradley

I think about Gary often, and wondered how he was doing. I just learned of his passing in the March issue of "Mammoth Tales", the newsletter that the Ice Age Trail Alliance puts out. I have wonderful memories of Gary and have a plexiglass sketching of the IAT hanging in my office at home. I also carpooled with Gary a few times and had some great conversations with him. His smile holds a special place in my memory and heart. His carving of a pumpkin with the state of Wisconsin and IAT is one of my favorite photographs that I use regularly to promote the Trail. He was always a committed and hard worker that will be missed, but he's left his mark throughout the state of Wisconsin and everyone who was lucky enough to have known and volunteered with Gary.

Gary, highly respected and legendary volunteer and trail builder for the Ice Age Trail was kind, soft spoken and considerate. He brought back kerchiefs for the regular hikers and volunteers from the annual IAT conferences. He regularly offered me encouragement in my writing of weekly hike reports and was instrumental in my continuing to write these reports to this day. We will miss him.
