Obituary of Muril T Fields

Muril Thomas Fields, 91, of Whitewater passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville.

Muril was born on December 3, 1932 in Montfort, Wisconsin to Archie and Ruth (Thomas) Fields. He attended Utters Corners School. In 1953, Muril was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and was a Corporal until 1955. Muril was wed to Bonnie Jean Copus for two years, Marion Copus for 20 years; and married Lois Helen Antholt in 1984 and they were wed for 23 years until her passing. He farmed next to his parents farm in Rock County. Later, he worked as a truck driver for Markham Trucking for 50 years until his retirement. After retirement, Muril continued to work for thirteen years driving truck for Kowalski Pope.

Muril was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed bowling, playing the banjo, and had a love for all things music.

Muril is survived by his children, Tom Muril Fields of Whitewater, Dixie Manriquez of Elkhorn, Rosemary (Juan Avila) Montez of Janesville, Tina Bartel of Janesville; five grandchildren; Paul Manriquez, Tyrone Fields, Jason Bartle, Wesley Bartle and Rachel Rodriguez; many great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Ruth Fields; wife, Lois Fields; sister, Ruth “Natalie” Doman; and grandson, PJ Rodriguez.

A graveside service will take place at 11AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Richmond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice Visiting Angels nurses.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff on the fourth floor of St. Mary’s Hospital for their exceptional care for Muril.
