Obituary of Gilbert C Kutz

Gilbert Charles Kutz, age 93, entered his eternal rest on Saturday, January 13, 2024

He was born November 29, 1930 to George and Louise (nee Heilmann) Kutz in Cold Spring, WI.  Gilbert was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cold Spring.  He renewed his baptismal promise in the rite of confirmation on April 13, 1943 also at St. John’s Lutheran.  Pastor Martin Wahl was the confirming pastor.  On June 24, 1950 Gilbert Kutz and Justine, nee Wegner were united in marriage at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson by Pastor Gerhard Franzmann.  This marriage was blessed with 3 children.  Gilbert worked for over 35 years at General Motors in Janesville. 

He enjoyed gardening, wood working, coin collecting and doing jigsaw puzzles.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23^rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Nitardy Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Scharrer officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service begins.  Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. 

Memorials are preferred for Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving members of Gilbert’s family include two sons:  Rev. Thomas Kutz (Debra) of Watertown; and Michael Kutz (Susan) of Jefferson; and one daughter:  Susan Cook of Morgantown, WV.  He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. 

He had been preceded in death by his wife, Justine; his 3 brothers and 2 sisters; and a son-in-law, John Cook.
