Obituary of Sharen R. McCormick

Sharen R. McCormick (Horge) of Waunakee, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2023 in the company of her dear friend Vicky Taylor. 

Sharen was born Sept 5, 1943 in Madison, WI to James Horge and Louise (Gervais). Sharen is survived by her 3 sons and their wives; Dave and Sandi Patterson of Whitmore Lake, Mi, Kris and Amy Eckles of Waunakee, Wi, and Jason and Kris Eckles of Cottage Grove, Wi; grandchildren James and Madison Eckles, David Patterson, and Gabrielle and Greyson Eckles; and longtime partner Russel Miller. 

Sharen was a lifelong Madison area resident. She grew up on East Mifflin St. attending East High School, and raised her three boys on the far east side of Madison. Eventually moving to Sun Prairie and then Waunakee.

Sharen treasured her time with her family and friends spending annual family vacations and “girls” trips in the northwoods of Wisconsin or skiing in the UP, wintering in Estero, Fl, or simply chatting over a mid week lunch.

Sharen began her career as an X-Ray Technician at East Madison Clinic becoming the Medical Imaging Department Manager and later at Dean Clinic becoming the Imaging Department Regional Head, as well as consulting new construction of other Radiology Units around the region. She met many of her lifelong friends over the course of her career.

Sharen is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her brother Roger Horge, and several pets including her precious Golden Retreiver, Sophie.

Services will be held on September 15, 2023 at 11 AM, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 209 South St. Waunakee, WI. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.  Sharen will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
