Obituary of Randal Raymond Podratz

Randal "Randy" Raymond Podratz, 56, of Middleton, WI, passed away on July 28, 2023. Born on December 15, 1966, in Marshfield, WI, Randy was the beloved son of Raymond Podratz and Kathy (Guenther) Podratz. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Timothy Podratz and Tina Podratz.

Randy had a fulfilling and distinguished career as a Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff for 31 years. He was affectionately known as “Lumpy” by his fellow officers. During his tenure, he served on the police dive team and motorcycle patrol unit. Randy's expertise in diving led him to teach dive classes at UW-Whitewater. After retiring from the force, he remained active and engaged by driving cars for Jefferson Mid State Auto Auctions.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randy had a zest for life. He found solace in reading, watching movies, and playing golf. He was also an avid practitioner of karate and enjoyed thrilling motorcycle rides. Randy cherished his diving trips with friends, exploring the wonders of the underwater world. His love for music led him to attend concerts, with a particular fondness for Garth Brooks.

Randy is survived by his siblings, Lori (Pat) Schmidt, Karla (Mike) Kollmansberger, Tom Podratz, Jon Podratz, and Jayme Podratz. Their love and support provided Randy with immense comfort throughout his life.
