Obituary of Evelyn Anna Behnke

Evelyn "Evie" Anna Behnke, age 96, of Cambridge, WI passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Sienna Crest in Fort Atkinson, WI. Evie was born on December 5, 1920 in the Town of Oakland to William and Emily (Barfnecht) Behnke. She attended Delavan School for the deaf for a time. She enjoyed fishing on Lake Ripley and she volunteered for many years at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Cambridge and was also a member of their Ladies Aid. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Arthur, Clarence and Alvin Behnke, Leone Ward, Arlene Evenson and special friend, Arlie Strohbusch. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 4, 2017at St. James Lutheran Church, 411 E. North St. Cambridge, WI with Pastor Jeffrey Schallert officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church following the services with burial to follow the luncheon at the Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton, WI. Friends may call after 10AM on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the church until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Evelyn's name to St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Cambridge, WI or to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson, WI. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI is assisting the family
