Obituary of Phyllis Thelma Williams

Phyllis Thelma (Angert) Williams, 80, of Whitewater WI passed away peacefully with family by her side Friday, December 8, 2017 at St Mary's Hospital in Madison. Phyllis was born on February 16, 1937 in Butler Pennsylvania and was raised in a strong Catholic family and grew up attending a school ran by nuns. She continued practicing that faith to the very end of her life as a member of the St. Patrick's parish in Whitewater. Phyllis began her career as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force Nursing Core -certified flight nurse, where she spent most of her time based in Japan. Upon her honorable discharge in 1963, she worked in various nursing fields starting in the ER in Belleville, Illinois. She then switched over to Pediatrics. She married David Williams in St Louis, Missouri on November 25, 1967, and then moved to Wisconsin where she continued her work in Pediatrics. Throughout her career, she continually progressed in various leadership positions eventually transitioning over to Geriatric care while ultimately earning her BS degree. She then spent over 31 years as an administrator, first at Countryside Home in Jefferson and then at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn, until she retired on January 4, 2008. Throughout her career, Phyllis served on multiple committees for the State of Wisconsin and was an active board member in several related associations in her profession. Upon her retirement, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She thoroughly enjoyed her quilting hobby, providing all of us with memorable quilt keepsakes. Phyllis is survived by her husband David Robert Williams, "her greatest achievements", son Michael David Williams, daughter Michelle Phyllis (Williams) Tatge along with her husband Jamie Tatge, and her three grandchildren, Hannah Michelle, Parker Scott, and Jack William Tatge. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Thelma (Geibel) Angert, brother Larry Joseph Angert and two of her children Scott Charles Williams, and Baby Girl Williams. In Lieu of flowers, a donation in her name, to either St Patrick's Catholic Church of Whitewater, WI, or The American Diabetic Association would be appreciated. Phyllis, as well as her family, were greatly impressed with the care she received during her final days at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. The doctors and the entire nursing staff in the Critical care ICU department, went above all expectations and we are extremely thankful. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater, WI is assisting the family.
