Obituary of Carol Joan Floyd

Carol Joan Floyd, age 81, of Cambridge, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday June 22, 2015, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Facility in Johnson Creek, WI. �Her final days were spent surrounded by family and closest friends. �Carol was born in Marion, Iowa on September 2, 1933, the daughter of Claude A. and Tora J. (Tow) Luck. �She graduated from Marion High School and attended college at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, IA. �Carol went on to work in the Mayor�s office in Cedar Rapids, IA, and on June 6, 1952, Carol married the love of her life, Clark H. Floyd. They relocated their family to Madison, WI in 1963. Carol worked for over 25 years as a Legal Secretary for the Foley & Lardner Law Firm in Madison, WI. Following her retirement, she worked part-time for Badger Tour and Travel - Madison. Carol moved to Cambridge WI in 2013, where she resided with her daughter Julie and son-in-law Paul. Carol was an active member of the Oakland-Cambridge Presbyterian Church in Cambridge, WI and enjoyed attending Sunday services. Carol loved knitting and was an expert at; crossword puzzles, cooking delicious meals, baking and loved spending time out socializing in the community and shared her love and life with numerous dogs. But most of all, Carol loved to spend time with her family and close friends. All who had the privilege to know her were met by her kindness, her sweet temperament and her wonderful sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her three devoted daughters: Laura �J. Vancil of Madison, WI, Julie A. (Paul) Anderson of Cambridge, WI, and Tracy L. (Craig) Clerkin of Stoughton, WI; her five adoring grandchildren: Jennifer and Victoria Vancil of Madison, WI, Joseph Grim of Boulder, CO, and Nicholas and Natalie Clerkin of Stoughton, WI; Also survived by her sister, Marianne (David) Post, niece Jamie (Post) Dake, nephew Jeffrey Post and her cousin Marilyn Scott, �all of Cedar Rapids, IA. Carol touched the lives of many with her sweet smile and generosity, and maintained her sense of humor all the way to the end. Her loving husband, Clark preceded her in death in 1989. In 2000, Carol met Donald Asplin, her dear companion who passed away in 2012. Carol's parents also preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 208 N. Park Street, Cambridge, WI. Funeral Services will be at the Oakland-Cambridge Presbyterian Church, 313 E. Main Street, Cambridge, WI at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, with Rev. Scott Marrese-Wheeler officiating. Family Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, WI prior to the funeral service. A reception and celebration of Carol's life will immediately follow the funeral service at the Keystone Grill, 206 W. Main Street, Cambridge. The family would like to express our deepest and most sincere�gratitude to all of the wonderful people who gave such great care for Carol in her time of need at Rainbow Hospice of Johnson Creek, especially her personal nurse Sarah Stewart, as well as the UW Cancer Clinic-Johnson Creek. Carol�s daughter�s, Laura, Tracy and their families would like to especially acknowledge their sister Julie and husband Paul for their unconditional love, care and devotion to their mom.
