Obituary of Richard Morgan

Richard "Dick" Morgan Richard Morgan, 95, of Fort Atkinson died in the early hours of Monday, August 31st, 2015 at Fairhaven Retirement Community in Whitewater. He was born Richard John Morgan, the son of Richard W. Morgan and Caroline (Vogtman) Morgan, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on March 25th, 1920. Following graduation from high school in Oshkosh, Richard attended Oshkosh College briefly before enlisting in the Army in 1939. He served in the Army Air Corps until his honorable discharge in November, 1945, attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant. He married Loraine Buntrock of Oshkosh on March 25th, 1942 in Conway, SC, near where he was stationed at the time. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until her passing in 2001. Following WWII Richard was employed by Leach Mfg. Co. of Oshkosh. He and Loraine moved to Fort Atkinson in 1953 where he went to work for Jamesway in the Sales Department. He became their Market Manager for Barn Equipment and continued with the company following the purchase of Jamesway by Butler Manufacturing. He retired in 1985. Richard�s call to service went far beyond the military. He has been a longstanding member of St. Peter�s Episcopal Church in Fort Atkinson, having served on the vestry as Junior Warden, Senior Warden, and as Chairman of the Building Committee. He was a member of the Fort Atkinson Lions Club, serving as their Sunshine Committee Chairman for many years. Richard was a volunteer with Fort Memorial / Fort Healthcare Hospital for decades serving as a patient escort, deliverer of mail, supplies, and flowers, Love Lights charity worker, and CareLine personal emergency response installer. He also served on the Jefferson County Civil Service Committee. Richard is preceded in death by his father and mother, 5 siblings, Janette, Alice, Betty, James, and Joan, and his wife Loraine. He is survived by his two children, Claudia Morgan, Bradley, and wife Linda Morgan, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. A memorial service with Holy Eucharist will be held at St. Peter�s Episcopal Church, 302 Merchants Ave. Fort Atkinson, WI at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 3rd. There will be a brief visitation at St. Peter�s starting at 9:30 AM. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery following the service. Dick�s family wishes to express their deep gratitude for having been blessed by the presence, and love of this unwavering father, grandfather, and community servant.
