Obituary of Shirley Ann Kreklow

Shirley Ann Kreklow, age 78, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2015, at her home, with family at her side. Shirley was born in Concord, Wisconsin on May 14, 1937, the daughter of Alvin Albert and Marion Dorothy (Becker) Maas. She graduated from Lake Mills High School and then Madison Area Technical College as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Shirley worked as an LPN at Fort Memorial Hospital, St. Coletta and Countryside Home, retiring in May of 1999. After her official retirement, she continued her work in service in many capacities for her church, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson. She also served many volunteer hours for the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and at Twice Is Nice in Jefferson and Bethesda Lutheran Homes in Watertown. She was a dedicated blood donor and volunteer for the American Red Cross. On June 1, 1973, Shirley married the love of her life, Adolph 0. Kreklow in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1989. Survivors include: Sister: Sharon Kopplin, Marshall, WI, Sister-in-law: Carol Maas, Fort Atkinson, WI, Niece: Catherine Krahn Horton (Guy Horton), Jefferson, WI, Nephews: David Maas, Watertown, WI, Jeffrey (Candi) Maas, Whitewater, WI, and their families and Scott Kopplin, Marshall, WI She is also survived by Adolph's children: Carol Jean (Gerald) Schultz, Fort Atkinson, WI, Richard (Carol) Kreklow Roanoke, VA, Kenneth Kreklow, Elkhorn, WI, Daniel (Mary) Kreklow, Fort Atkinson, WI, grandchildren: Kristie, Becky and Paul, (and their families) Roanoke, VA, William and Jason, Fort Atkinson, 4 great-grandchildren, and many good friends. Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald Maas and many close friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 21, 2015 at 12 noon at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 301 S. High Street, Fort Atkinson, WI with Rev. Matthew Vik officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 am on Saturday until the time of the services. A luncheon will follow services. A private burial will take place at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. The Nitardy Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family has also been assisted by Rainbow Hospice. If desired, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson or Rainbow Hospice. A special thank you to Dr. Koenig and Dr. Kontny, Pastor Matthew Vik, the caregivers and volunteers of Rainbow Hospice, her in-home caregivers, as well as her family and many friends, who helped her through this difficult time.
