Obituary of Richard LeRoy Hommen

Richard LeRoy Hommen, 78, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born on February 23, 1937 in Deerfield, the son of Bert and Thelma Hommen. He grew up on a dairy and tobacco farm outside of Deerfield. In 1955 he graduated from Deerfield High School and joined the Army where he served in Frankfurt Germany for 3 years. He was a member of St. Paul�s Liberty Lutheran Church where he enjoyed volunteering as an usher and assisting with the assembly of the church bulletin. Richard was employed at Creamery Package in Lake Mills for 35 years where he was a machinist working in the area of Research and Development until his retirement in 1998. Richard enjoyed gardening, driving his golf cart and was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan. Richard is survived by his 4 children - Brian Hommen (Debbie), Cheryl Nisler (Dennis), Kevin Hommen (Angie), Shane Hommen; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Roger and Delbert Hommen. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 19, at St. Paul�s Liberty Lutheran Church (3494 Oak Park Road Deerfield, WI 53531) with visitation one hour prior to the service and burial at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul�s Liberty Lutheran Church. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI is assisting the family.
