Obituary of Guy Lloyd Pfeifer

Guy Lloyd Pfeifer, age 92, passed away December 28, 2015 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Whitewater, WI with his beloved wife and children at his side. Guy was born October 4, 1923 in Manitowoc to the late George and Alma (Meihsner) Peters. Guys father died when Guy was only three months old. His mother later married Otto Pfeifer. Guy graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Wentworth Military Academy. He served in the US Army during WWII in North Africa and Italy. After military service he attended St. Olaf College where he met Joan M. Tveten, also of Manitowoc. He fell head over heels and Joan never had a chance. They were married August 30, 1947 at First Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. Guy remained active at First Lutheran Church until moving to Whitewater in 2008. Guy sang in the Chancel Choir at First Lutheran for decades and was Scout Leader of Boy Scout Troop 23. He was a 50 year member of the SPEBSQSA, Manitowoc Chapter, Clipper City Chordsmen and sang with The Eight Cylinders. Guy loved singing and family car trips were filled with little Pfeifers singing away. Guy worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and WCUB Radio. After retirement he was an active volunteer for the Manitowoc County Historical Society, assisting with refinishing and restoration activities at Pine Crest Historical Village, especially the cheese house. Dad was the Researcher & Developer & Manufacturer of the much sought after Krismus Kollectables, a Division of Dads Enterprises. These Kollectables were not available to the General Public. The presentation of the annual Kollectable was a highly anticipated Christmas Day tradition. Guy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joanie, and their five children, Guy (Nancy) of Milwaukee, WI; Kristine (Joe) Eisele of Eagle River, WI; James of Atlanta, GA; John (Sandy) of Austin, TX; and Ann (Randy) Holschbach of Whitewater. He is further survived by his eight grandsons, Peter (Liz) Otis; Hans, Christiaan (Shirley) and Nikolaus (Cheri) Pfeifer; Ryan (Vanessa) and Aaron Holschbach; and James and David Pfeifer. Guys Great-grandchildren include Miles, Olivia, Keena and Sophie, Anthony, Natalie, Sarah, Hannah, Lucas, and Greysen. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Charmaine and Donald Waak of Manitowoc. He is survived by nephews and special niece MaryJo Vollendorf. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Fairhaven Nursing Home for the loving care Guy received while residing there, they would also like to thank the Nitardy Funeral Home of Whitewater for their care and assistance. When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound and time shall be no more, when the morning breaks eternal, bright and fair, When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore, when the roll is called up yonder, Ill be there!
