Obituary of William Clifford Tlachac

William Clifford Tlachac, 90, formerly of Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Fairhaven Senior Community, Whitewater, WI. Cliff served in the Navy during World War II as the radioman on the submarine USS Pogi. He was assigned to a top secret project (sworn to secrecy for 50 years!) for a year after VJ-Day as the crew perfected torpedo "pinging". On June 5, 1948 he married Irene Sticka in Kewaunee. Cliff was employed by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a station manager/telegrapher. He and Irene loved to travel, visiting all 50 states in a series of RVs. He also enjoyed woodworking and doing his crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Irene, Son, Ralph Tlachac, Beloit, WI., Daughter, Charlotte Tlachac, Alameda, CA., Grandchildren; Robert Tlachac, Anna (Mark) Milner, Great-Grandchildren; Malachi, Azriel and Ezekiel. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother, Robert and Sister, Ethel Cherveny. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N. Newcomb St., Whitewater, WI 53190 with Father Mark Niehaus officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:30 until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the St. John Catholic Cemetery, Jefferson. As an expression of sympathy you may wish to consider memorials to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight in Cliff's memory. His trip to D.C. was the highlight of his later years. http:www.starsandstripeshonorflight.org/donate
