Obituary of Marlin Borchardt

Marlin (Bun) Borchardt, age 94, of Cambridge, Wisconsin passed away suddenly and peacefully in his home on Friday, March 25, 2016. Bun was born February 28, 1922 in Prior Lake, Minnesota to Al and Anna (Busse) Borchardt. Bun grew up in Prior Lake, where he met the love of his life, Lucy Haas. Bun and Lucy were married on May 8th, 1947 in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. After their marriage, Bun and Lucy moved to Cambridge, Wisconsin, where they had three children Merlin, Roger and Lu. Lucy passed away on September 22, 2015. After they met, Bun served in the army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He received several Decorations including the Bronze Star. He was very proud to serve in the military and serve our country. Bun worked at his Brother Melvin�s gas station and farmed for his brother in-law Reinhard Will. After moving to Cambridge, he worked at Healthway Dairy and Schweigers. Bun enjoyed woodworking. He built many pieces of furniture throughout his life that will be treasured by his family and the community. Bun loved to play cards - especially Sheepshead and Euchre. He was infamous for picking on any one card and taking his partner along for the ride. Bun also loved to go golfing and bowling. Bun was a dedicated member of Grace Lutheran Church. Bun loved to make people laugh with stories and jokes. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Whenever you would ask him how he was doing his usual response was Fantastic! Maybe even a little better than that! Bun will be remembered forever by his children, Merlin (Tiana) Borchardt, Roger Borchardt, Lu Borchardt; grandchildren, Samantha (Art) Ponce, Stephanie (Nick) Schill, Kim (Ty) Campanie, Krystal Prochnow, Steve Borchardt, Toni (Matt) Clemens, Doug Prochnow, Mike Borchardt; great-grandchildren, Miranda Borchardt, Liam Clemens, Isabelle Clemens, Ryan Clemens, Mateo Ponce, Wynn Schill; siblings Allen Borchardt and Lorraine (Earl) Koepp; other loving relatives and friends. There to meet Bun in Heaven are his wife Lucy; daughter-in-law Joy Borchardt and siblings, Roman Borchardt, Melvin Borchardt, Norman Borchardt, Luverne "Toots" Theis, Bernice Krueger & Ann King. The visitation is Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 9 - 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Skogen Road, Cambridge, WI with the funeral service to directly follow at 11. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI is assisting the family.
