Obituary of Raymond Mathias Welter

Raymond Mathias Welter, age 86, of Whitewater, WI passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Fairhaven in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Raymond was born in Lima Township on December 8, 1929, the son of Peter and Francesca (Mutter) Welter. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. On January 16, 1954, Ray married Susie Augusta Zimmerman in the Hebron Methodist Church, Hebron, Wisconsin. Ray worked in maintenance for J-Star in Fort Atkinson for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Ray was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Whitewater, WI, the VFW, the 40 et 8, the American Legion where he served as a past commander, and the Whitewater Garden Club. He enjoyed fishing, collecting fish poles, woodworking, and building bird houses. He was known for his love and devotion for his wife Susie. Ray adored his children and delighted in his grandchildren.� He always had a flashlight in his hand or one nearby.� He is now shining bright over his family's lives as he passes on that light to them! Welter, Whitewater, WI, Children: Raymond "Bink" (Rita) Welter, Whitewater, WI, Sonia (Donald) Troemel, Fort Atkinson, WI, and Sherry (Scott) Torrey, Necedah, WI, Daughter-in-law: Debbie(Marc) Roe, Whitewater, WI, Grandchildren: Wyatt Welter, Weston Welter, Wendel Welter, Tricia (Jeff) Smith, Skyler (Victoria) Torrey, Shayne Torrey, Sarah Torrey, Rachel Welter, and Evan Welter, Great-grandchild Blake Torrey, and a Brother: Reinhart Welter, Whitewater, WI. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a son Randolph Welter, brothers: Philip, Stephan, Helmuth "Jim", sisters: Lillian Rhead, Esther Ellett, Melida Wegner, and Arletta Welter, and Ruth Welter. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 145 S. Prairie Street, Whitewater, WI with Rev. Susan Bresser officiating.� Burial with military honors will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Visitation will be after 9:30AM on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the church until the time of the service. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater, Wisconsin is assisting the family.
