Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Ebbott

Mary E. Ebbott, 101, of Whitewater, died on April 11, 2016 at Fairhaven Senior Services, Whitewater. She was born June 6, 1914 in Fort Atkinson, daughter of Fred and Sibyl Shook Ludeman. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1931 and was co-editor of the high school yearbook and class salutatorian. She then took the Primary Course at Whitewater State Teachers� College from 1931-33. She taught grade school at Flanagan School, from 1933-34 and Milford State Graded School (where she was also principal) from 1935-36. She took a summer school course at WSTC in 1936 to enable her to teach upper grades. She then taught third grade at Barrie School, Fort Atkinson, from 1936-41. She married John W. Ebbott on October 11, 1941, and farmed and raised two sons with him on Bonnie Brae Farm in Sullivan and Palmyra Townships until his death in a farm accident on December 27, 1972. She continued to live in the farm house until she moved to the Fairhaven Senior Services in December 2012. Mary was a very active member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and enjoyed family, friends, music, and reading. Mary is survived by sons John (Joan Wentworth) and William (Nancy Paul); grandson Jack (JoAnn) Ebbott, Madison; granddaughter Kristi Ebbott, Oshkosh;� nieces Nancy Ebbott and Diane Wolff, Waukesha, and Jean Ebbott, Miami, FL; and special friends, Gail Kincaid, Jefferson, and Jeane Jones, Sullivan, WI. Also surviving are great grandchildren Andrew and Hannah Ebbott. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Ludeman, and sister Helen Thayer. The funeral will be at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Sullivan Township, at 11:00 am on April 16, 2016. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Fairhaven for the care they gave to Mary. The Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
