Obituary of Eleanor C. Hack

Eleanor C. (Karrels) Hack passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Fairhaven Retirement Community in Whitewater. Eleanor was born in Port Washington, WI to the late Anton and Barbara (Watry) Karrels on April 5, 1915. During her formative years, she lived in Port Washington, WI; the state of Michigan and Eagle, WI. She married Arthur L. Hack on April 22, 1936 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Eagle, Wisconsin. Art preceded her in death on September 10, 2003. Along with her husband, she farmed in Hebron, WI until retirement. They continued to live in Hebron, where they enjoyed many years gardening, raising chickens, and selling eggs. Eleanor so enjoyed canning and preserving the produce from the gardens and then giving it to family, friends and the church for fund raisers. For many years she and her husband sponsored the Toby and the Choreboys comedy act and dance band in many venues throughout Southern Wisconsin. Eleanor would bake numerous pies and prepare her fabulous bar-b-que sandwiches for those attending. Eleanor was a former member of the Hebron Womens Club. She was an Amway distributor for many years. Eleanor always had room at the dinner table for anyone just dropping in. She could always put together a delicious meal at a moments notice. She moved to Fairhaven in April 2004, after suffering a broken hip. She made many friends there among residents and staff alike. Eleanor was always pleasant, caring and generous. Her thankful endearing smile warmed many a heart. She would always put others first and didnt want to be a bother to anyone. Eleanor was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Eleanor is survived by her seven children: Marvin (Virginia) Hack of Hebron, David (Judy) Hack of Hebron, Michael (Helen) Hack of Waukesha, Thomas (Marcine) Hack of Florida, James Hack of Hebron, Kathy (Jerry) Seisser of Jefferson and Yvonne (Jim) Mullen of Kentucky, twenty-six grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she is preceded by two daughters-in-law (Patsy Hack and Penny Hack), one grandson, four great grandchildren, one step grandchild, three sisters (Helen Lindholm, Carol Anich and Genevieve Karrels) and one brother (Ed Karrels).
