Obituary of Alice Emma Armstrong

Alice Emma Armstrong, 97, Whitewater, entered her eternal home peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Fort Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson, WI.

Alice was born on March 28, 1925, in Fort Atkinson to Edwin and Eleanore (Drescher) Graper. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1943 and married Daryl J. Armstrong on August 4, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1995. She was an active member of the Fort Atkinson community, serving as president of the Fort Women’s Club in 1978 and was the neighborhood Girl Scout chairman for 6 years. Alice was a hostess and later a marketing rep for the Fireside Theatre. Alice was a long time, active member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson. She spent many years in Lake Arrowhead, WI and Mesa, AZ creating wonderful, lasting memories for her children and many grandchildren, always trying to pass along her love of baking, knitting, and card playing to the next generations. She was a beloved community member wherever she went, with hilarious stories following her always. Fiercely devoted to her family, her matriarchal guidance and love has proved invaluable in keeping the family extraordinarily tightknit despite being scattered across the U.S..

She is survived by her children, Daniel (Cynthia) Armstrong, Burlington, WI, Debra (Robert) Vos, Virginia Beach, VA, Dori (Michael) Liller, Hillsborough, NC, daughter in law, Lesley Armstrong, Sun Prairie, WI; grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Brown, Alison Armstrong, Jacob (Kim) Armstrong, Matthew (Francesca) Armstrong, Raleigh Vos, Abby (Patrick) Dunn, Natalie (Davis) Park, and Maggie Liller; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Carson, Austin, Bethany, Samantha, Clayton, Sullivan, Santiago, and Joaquin. She is also survived by her four beloved nieces and their spouses and children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David Armstrong; sisters, Dorothy and Lois; brothers, Homer and Bob.

Funeral Services will be held at Nitardy Funeral Home 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, WI 53538 on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Fort Atkinson. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s memory may be made to Fairhaven Senior Services, 435 W Starin Rd, Whitewater, WI 53190. The Armstrong family will forever be grateful for the many years of dedicated, loving care and service that Fairhaven has provided.
