Obituary of Mary Jane Lynd

Mary J. Lynd a life long resident of Whitewater, Wisconsin passed away on March 15, 2009.� Mary was born on July 15, 1931 in Horicon, Wisconsin and� loved life! She loved to visit, go out to eat, shop, and visit some more with family and friends. Mary was a proud member of the Whitewater High School Class of 1950.� On May 4, 1952, she married Albert J. Lynd at the First United� Methodist Church in Whitewater. �Mary and Albert loved to dance; polkas, waltzes, and fox trots at the Armory Legion Hall and throughout Wisconsin. She always listened to her favorite music at home and danced in the kitchen. �Mary moved to her beloved Lynd Family Farm after she married Albert and� raised her three children. She loved her animals: dogs, cats, chickens, cows, sheep, and a goat. Mary worked with her husband and children on the farm and welcomed all who stopped by to visit and offered them a home cooked meal. Mary was proud of her Hungarian and Swiss roots, but was especially proud to be an American. Mary loved 4-H, where she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren- learn by doing; both in Rock and Lafayette Counties and at the Wisconsin State Fair. She also supported her grandchildren at grandparents day, music events, gymnastics competitions, dance recitals, cross country, graduation events, and family weddings.� We were always grateful when "Short Grandma", aka "Little Grandma" could come and we will miss her, but know she is always with us in spirit. �She is survived by her children: Daughter: Kathleen (Steve) Roelli, Platteville, WI, and Nancy (Robert) Lynd O'Hara, Whitewater, WI, �Beloved Grandchildren: Alex (Alyssa) Roelli, Muskego, WI, Sarah Mary Elizabeth (Kenneth) Roelli-Robertson, Mankato, MN, and Kelly Lynd O'Hara, Whitewater, WI, Uncles and Aunts: Arnold Gallenbeck, Harold Gallenbeck, and Goldie Rudey, and many cousins from the Beaver Dam area. �Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Albert Lynd, her beloved son John Lynd, her parents Steven and Eldora Bordas, one brother and two sisters who passed away as children, and her father and mother-in-law Alex and Edith Lynd, her special grandparents Herbert and Bernice Gallenbeck and wonderful aunts and uncles. �Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 20, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Whitewater, WI with Rev. Glenn Skatrud and Rev. David Kalas officiating.� Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater. �Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater and after 10:00AM on Friday at the church until the service. The family would like to thank all the special and caring friends from the Blackhawk Manor in Whitewater, Dr. Joseph Conner, staff, lab and nurses at the UW-Cancer Center in Madison who gave us 3 1/2 extra years to love and enjoy her, the Aurora Hospice team and the nurses at Aurora Lakeland Hospital, special care takers Rebecca Germundson, Erica Tomaszeski and all her friends and� neighbors who stopped by to visit, and Rev. Glenn Skatrud of the First United Methodist Church where Mary was a life long member and a life long Christian.
