Obituary of Ruth V. Carlson

Ruth V. Carlson, age 92 of Cambridge, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday March 29, 2009 surrounded by her family following a brief illness.� Ruth was born December 16, 1916 to Hannah and Andrew Carlson in Chicago, IL.� She was preceded in death by her parents; Sister, Hilder Anderson; Brother in law, Herb Anderson; and Brother, Elmer Carlson.� Ruth was employed by Sears Roebuck in Chicago as an Accounting Supervisor for over twenty years.� She retired in 1974 and moved from Chicago to the family cottage at Lake Ripley where she lived with her Brother, Elmer.� Ruth was a member of the Cambridge Young at Hearts club and enjoyed outings with the group.� She lived a very simple life and was always willing to help those in need. Ruth was very fortunate in her late years to become part of an active family when she moved to the Larson home where she was surrounded by cats, dogs, teenagers and many others who loved her and cared for her.� She loved playing cards and it was not unusual to find her at the kitchen table with "her girls" playing solitaire and making sure that everyone was playing by the rules.� She also looked forward to her weekly outings with Katie and Mia riding thru the Mall with young Nina in her lap. Ruth will live on in the memories of her family and caregivers, Don & Denise Mehltretter; Lisa, Bailey, & Adrian Larson; Zach Zander; Katie & Mia Martin; Hannah, Kelsey, Connie & Pete Schwalbach; Samantha & Elli Austin; Ashlie Nelson; Morgan Dehnert; Janice Schaefer; Mickey, Matt, Hunter & Dakota Eagen; And many other friends.� Special thanks to Lisa and Bailey Larson for your tender loving care that made Ruth's last days very special. Visitation will be held on Thursday April 2 at Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge from 5-6:30 pm followed by a memorial service.� Internment will be on Saturday April 4th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chicago.� Ruth had requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. The sun is shining brighter today because Heaven has a new Angel.
