Obituary of LaVerne Robert Meyer

LaVerne "Vern" Robert Meyer, age 75, of Fort Atkinson, died May 29, 2009 at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital.� LaVerne was born on October 11, 1933 in Fort Atkinson, to Delbert and Ida (Konser) Meyer.� Vern graduated from the Whitewater High School in 1951.� He attended the Chicago Institute in the Architectural program, and was also licensed as a real estate broker.� On October 20, 1956 he married Shirlene Traxler at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson.� LaVerne worked in millwork sales and services, being self-employed since 1989.� He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling and was an avid Packer fan. �Surviving are his wife, Shirlene Meyer, Son: Gary (Kathy) Meyer, of Marshall; Daughter: Wendy (Brian) Engelbrecht, of Watertown; 4 Grandchildren: Amy and Melissa Engelbrecht, and Megan and Jared Meyer; Sister: Betty (Herb) Hein of Fort Atkinson, and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. �LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents; Brother-in-law and good friend, Gary Coates; Nephews: Jeffrey, Billy, Dustin, and Wyatt, and Mother and Father-in-law, Chet and Elva Traxler.�� � Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 11:00am at Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Atkinson, WI, with Rev. Robert Coates officiating.� Friends may call from 10am until the time of service.� Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, WI. � Those wishing an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, or to a charity of one's choice.
