Obituary of Alice M. O'Keefe

Alice May O'KEEFE, age 95, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 9, 2009, at her niece, Alice Watson�s home, where she resided for the past 2 years. Alice was born in Portage, Wisconsin on September 21, 1913, one of the ten children of William and Maude (Ramsey) Atkinson. Alice graduated from Portage High School, and in 1948 Alice married Robert O'Keefe. After her marriage, Alice moved to Milwaukee where she worked for a shoe factory. She and Robert owned and operated a heating boiler company in Milwaukee. Robert died in 1967, and Alice, then, moved back to Portage. Alice owned and operated numerous boarding houses in Portage for 40 years. Daily, Alice would walk and visit people. While in Milwaukee, she was a member of the United Methodist Church and continued as an active person of faith after moving. She had a close relationship for many years with her sister, Iva Egan, who cared and supported her. She was loved by her sister�s children who thought of her as a second mother, and they were the children she never had.
