Obituary of Eileen M. Scott

Eileen SCOTT, age 88, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 21, 2009, at Country Comforts, in Cambridge. Eileen was born the daughter of Lloyd and Gertrude (Rieff) Scott on March 31, 1921, at the home of her maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Rieff of London, Wisconsin. She attended the Cambridge school system and graduated from the High School in 1938. She received a Bachelor degree in English and Social Studies from Whitewater, a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling from University of Wisconsin Madison , and earned additional graduate work at Stout, LaCrosse, and Milwaukee. Her teaching career began in two rural schools in the Cambridge area, taught at Blair, WI, Johnson Creek, and Watertown where she became Guidance Director and developed a Career Education Program that received national recognition with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. After leaving the Watertown Public School System she became the Area Coordinator for the Watertown Campus of the Madison Area Technical College. She was the first woman to serve as Area Coordinator. Upon returning back to her �Home Town� she became interested in Village Government and served as a Trustee for one term and then became President of the Village for five terms. She has served several terms as Elder of Oakland � Cambridge Presbyterian Church. Her latest interest has been the Historical School Museum where she has served as President of the Board and Curator. Eileen always believed in the Greatness of her home town and it was her pride and joy to record its history, successes, and believed that it was the best small community in Southern Wisconsin. Surviving are: Sister-In-Law: Pauline Scott, Nephew: Richard (Jean) Scott, Niece: Christine (Kristopher) Frey, all of Cambridge, Great Niece: Mandi (Tony) Buonincontro, Fort Atkinson, WI, Great Nephew: Jamey (Bridgette) Scott, Cambridge, Great Nephew: Corey (Fiance Kristin Gillitzer) Scott, LaCrosse, WI, Great Nephew: Mitch Frey, Cambridge, Great Niece: Karly Frey, Cambridge, Great-Great Nieces: Madalyn, Malorri, and Maycie Buonincontro. Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, August 27, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Oakland-Cambridge Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, WI. Burial will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge, and also one hour prior to the service at church.
