Obituary of Leslie D. Orr-Dr.

Dr. Leslie Donald ORR, age 84, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital. Leslie, �Doc Orr� was born in Bagley, Wisconsin on October 27, 1924, the son of Leslie Robert and Alta Jane (Ready) Orr. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1942, and then attended Kentucky Military Institute in 1943. He graduated from the Logan Basic College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a medic, seeing duty in the Phillipines and New Guinea. Les was a pitcher for the Sheboygan Indians (a semi-professional baseball team)in the summer of 1942, and after his military service. Doc owned and operated a chiropractic Clinic in Fort Atkinson for over 51 years. He was married to Audrey Lois Humphreys of Missouri from 1949 to 1966. She preceded him in death on October 4, 1977. On July 28, 1977, Les married Sharron Faye Carlson of Minnesota. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2004. Doc was an avid hunter and baseball fan. He took pride in getting to know people through conversation, and remembering each individual. Children were a special delight for him. Surviving are: Daughter: Leslie (Dan) Schmidt, Woodbury, MN, Daughter: Jennifer Dullere, Fort Atkinson, WI, Son: Steven (Morgan Schneider) Orr, Corvallis, OR, Son: Robert (Sharon Foster) Carlson-Orr, England, Grandchildren: Cory Schmidt, Jeff Schmidt, Ryan Orr and Rachamin Foster-Carlson. Les was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Orma Orr Stadtler and a granddaughter Andrea Schmidt. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Atkinson. Burial will be in the Bagley Cemetery, Bagley, Wisconsin at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2009 with military graveside rites. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, or Fort Memorial Hospital Foundation.
