Obituary of Edward Paul Mulrooney

Edward P. Mulrooney, age 75, of Whitewater, WI passed away on September 11, 2009 at his home. He was born on March 18, 1934 in Boscobel to Leonard J. Sr. and Mary Ruth (Rooney) Mulrooney. He attended grade school at St. Mary�s parochial school in Fennimore. After his family moved he graduated from grade school and then in 1957, High School in Mt. Hope, WI. After High School, Edward began working at General Motors in Janesville, taking time out to serve in the Army in the 6th Armored Division in Germany. Upon his discharge in 1956, he resumed work at General Motors, where he retired in 1989 after 37 years. On February 16, 1957, he married Joy Haas in St. Lawrence O�Toole Catholic Church, Mt. Hope, WI. To this union four children were born: Teresa (Paul Eastwood) Mulrooney, of Madison; Pamela (James) Kennedy, of Boynton Beach, FL; David (Holly) of La Porte, CO, and Marcia (Keith) Thayer, of Whitewater. As a hobby he had a sport shop and shooting range, which kept him happy. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was on a trapshooting team. He was a local 95 union member, and a member of Milton American Legion 367. Ed was a hunter�s safety instructor for over 30 years, and leader for Lima 4-H Club, constable for the Town of Lima Center, usher at St Mary�s Catholic Church in Milton, and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He served on the DNR Legislative Committee from April 1979 to 2007. In 1965 Ed shot a 400lb. bear and had it mounted and the bear became a member of the family. Preceding him in death are his parents, and four brothers: Richard, Jerome, Michael, and Robert. Surviving are his wife; 4 children; granddaughters: Shannon and Bridget Kennedy; grandson Cody Mulrooney; brother Leonard Jr. (Marcella), of Mt Hope, and sisters- in-law Mary Evans of Papillion, NE, and Jean Simmons, of Madison. Memorial Mass will be Monday, September 14, 2009 at 11am at St. Mary�s Catholic Church, Milton,WI. Friends may call from 10 am until the time of service. Inurnment will be at 1pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at St. Lawrence O�Toole, Mt. Hope. WI. Those wishing an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the American Heart Assoc., Hospice Care Inc. of Rock County, or Boys Town, Omaha, NE. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Mary�s and UW Hospitals and Hospice Care of Rock County. After many years of trying the beds at Mercy, St. Mary�s, and UW Hospitals, he liked his bed the best and passed away at home surrounded by family.
