Obituary of Adeline Hartmann

Adeline (Klockow) HARTMANN, 94, Fort Atkinson. Adeline Hartmann died peacefully, Monday, October 19, 2009 at her residence at Wellington Meadows, Fort Atkinson. Adeline Hartmann was born in Johnson Creek, WI on December 14, 1914, the daughter of Gustav and Louise (Wrasse) Klockow. She married Harlan H. (Zeke) Hartmann on May 13, 1972. He died on August 1, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Benjamin, Walter, Edward, Henry and James and sisters Gertrude Schmidt and Geraldine Frandson Squeo. She is survived by her stepson Harlan H. (Skip) Hartmann of Litchfield, Illinois, sisters-in-law Ruby Klockow of Watertown and Eleanor Klockow of Fort Atkinson and nieces and nephews including Candy Milan and Chuck and Fran Frandson of Fort Atkinson. Adeline attended Johnson Creek School and the Vogue School of Design in Chicago. She spent her entire working life of more than sixty years designing, creating, manufacturing or tailoring clothing. Adeline began her career as a private seamstress and dressmaker. She was employed by Perry Manufacturing in Whitewater and Fort Atkinson and later by Brill Brothers. She managed coat and jacket manufacturing facilities in Fort Atkinson for nearly 30 years along with providing tailoring services for Jensen and Jones menswear. Well into her seventies, Adeline communted daily to Janesville where she worked at Monterey Mills. Adeline was at her happiest when she was making others happy. Famous for her baking, she provided pies and cakes to order for family birthdays and holidays. She will be remembered fondly for her kindness and her willingness to help anyone who was in need. Funeral services will be held at Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson on Friday, October 23rd at 11:30AM with interment to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 10:00AM on Friday before the service. The family wishes to thank the loving staff of Wellington Meadows for their kindness and attention and also the staff of Rainbow Hospice Care for their help in the months prior to Adeline's passing.
