Obituary of Robert Frank Herbert

Robert Frank Herbert, Sr., 93, of Watertown, formerly of Fort Atkinson, WI, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009, at his home. Robert (Bob) was born in Hudson, WI, St. Croix County, on September 13, 1916, son of John Frank and Esther (Noren) Herbert. He was baptized on May 17, 1917, and confirmed on May 17, 1931 at St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, Milton, WI. He graduated from Milton Union High School on May 29, 1934. On October 10, 1942, Bob married Evelyn M. Kucken in St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, Town of Cold Spring, WI. Bob was a farmer most of his life. He was employed for 30 years at Thomas Industries in Fort Atkinson. Bob volunteered as an escort at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital for 10 years. Bob served on the Lakeside General Board for several years as well as other church committees and clubs. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Evelyn; son, Robert, Jr. (Carol) Herbert, Bellaire, TX; son, Roger (Sandra), Watertown, WI; daughter, Beverly (James) Fulmer, Oconomowoc, WI; five grandsons, five granddaughters, and three step-grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; brother, James (Jean) Herbert, Beaver Dam, WI; sister, Marie Brokl, Jefferson, WI; sister-in-law Donna Herbert, Helenville, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and David Sobieralski; an infant grandson; one brother, John Herbert; two sisters, Helen Baker and Alice Hudnall; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Baker and Edward Brokl. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 304 N. 6th Street, Watertown, with Pastor Rodney Warnecke officiating. Burial will be at the South Koshkonong Union Cemetery, Town of Koshkonong, WI. Relatives and friends may call at Nitardy Funeral Home, 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, on Monday, November 2, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service at St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown. Memorials may be given to Lakeside Lutheran High School, St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, Watertown, or Rainbow Hospice.
