Obituary of Jean Elsie Lee

Jean E. Lee, age 90, of Whitewater died peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Fairhaven Retirement Community in Whitewater. She was born in Elkhorn on August 14, 1919, to Edward and Elsie (Shaver) Zwieg. Jean was a war bride and married Ralph Y. Lee on May 7, 1943 and lived all of her married life in Whitewater. She was an avid reader and loved poetry. She enjoyed the outdoors and a good brisk walk in the woods. She appriciated flowers, wild birds and animals, and nature of any kind. Jean also enjoyed playing cards, especially a good game of pinochle. She was kind and compassionate, loved children and was a wonderful grandmother. Jean is survived by her husband, Ralph; one son, Ned(Judy) Lee of Whitewater; two daughters, Ginger(Harvey) Winn of Waunakee and Mary(John) Seizer of Whitewater; 3 grandchildren, Nick(Bridget) Lee and Sari and Jay Winn; and 2 great-grandchildren, Alex and Makenna Lee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Rodney; two brothers, Clare and Bob Zwieg; and her sister, Virginia Lasch. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 4:30pm until 6:30pm at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N. Newcomb St., Whitewater.Private services will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fairhaven for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Jean. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairhaven Retirement Community.
