Collie lived what she believed. She led by example. I am grateful to have known a woman as full of conviction and determination as Collie was. Her memory will live on.

Grandma Collie was an amazing woman. Smart, always reading, invested in women's equality. I was just remembering yesterday how she adamantly encouraged me to vote for Hilary because she wanted to see a woman in the president's office. When I was young, I would sit on Grandma Collie's lap and read books. She read me Caddie Woodlawn when I was only five. We read books, played games, and drank hot chocolate. As I grew older, she enjoyed hearing about my college classes and continued to share stories about school. Two summers ago, while visiting D.C., I called Grandma after seeing her name at the Women's War Memorial. Then, last spring, Grandma Collie came to my commissioning and we had three generations of women war veterans in one room. Unfortunately, I cannot make it back to Wisconsin for the funeral, but my thoughts and prayers are with my family. I love you, Grandma Collie.
