Obituary of Robert C. Folk

Robert C. Folk, 79, of Milton passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 15, 2010. The son of Ralph and Kathryn (Good) Folk, he was born November 28, 1930 in Janesville, WI. He married Esther Tragesser, daughter of Isadore and Anna (Hickner) Tragesser, on October 1, 1955 in Tipton, IN. He was a 1949 graduate of Janesville High School. He was employed at General Motors in Quality Control from 1949-1988. He served as Airman First Class in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. After retirement from General Motors, he worked another twelve years at SSI Technologies of Janesville, Kutz Ambulance Service of Fort Atkinson and Fisher Barton of Watertown. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson and an active member in the Knights of Columbus. He also served one term as Supervisor on the Koshkonong Town Board. He was a devoted husband and father. He was a compassionate man who put the needs of others before his own. Throughout his life he enjoyed duck hunting and fishing, euchre, cribbage, and crossword puzzles. One of his great joys was farming with his in-laws. He was an avid historian and had a thirst for learning. His many stories will long be cherished by those whose lives he touched. Robert is survived by his wife Esther; children Jeri (Scott) Fladmark of Janesville, Tom (Ronda) of Yoder, IN, Marce (Wayne Bender) of Madison, Cris (Sue)of Watertown, Patti of Fort Atkinson, Joe (Thelma) of Juneau; thirteen grandchildren Tyler (Jenny), Lars, Laurie (Akbar), Kevin (Jaime), Kim, Aaron, Emma, Annie, Alex, Bailey, Justin, Jason and Tala; four great-grandchildren Melissa, Isabella, Lexus and Dyllon. He is also survived by his brothers Ralph (Jane), George (Julie), Jim (Joan) and Mike, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and life long friend Pete Glass. Services will be held Monday, April 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. The visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. The Rosary will begin at 11:45 with the Mass of Christian burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery will follow at a later date. Those wishing an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson. Nitardy Funeral Home of Fort Atkinson is assisting the family
