Obituary of Jean Alice Lewis

Jean Alice Lewis, age 92, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Fairhaven senior residence in Whitewater, WI. Jean was born on April 10, 1918 in Whitewater, WI to Neil and Florence (Steele) Henderson. She graduated from College High and received her bachelor's degree in Business Education from Whitewater State Teacher's College. Jean taught for one year at Jefferson High School. On February 22, 1941, she married Eri J. Lewis at the Henderson family home in Whitewater. Jean was an active member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Whitewater, involved in many volunteer activities for her church, Fairhaven, the Whitewater community, and the Highland Beach, Florida public library. She was active in book club, gardening, and bridge club which she was a member of for over 60 years. Jean is survived by: Daughter, Nancy Cassano, Monticello, MN, Son, David (Pat) Lewis, Prior Lake, MN, Daughter, Barbara Harkonen, San Francisco, CA, Son-in-Law, Jerry (Sandra) DeSobe, Houston, TX; Grandchildren, Brad Cassano, Major USAF Scott Cassano, and Kim Cassano, Kyle (Lynn) Lewis, Dianne Lewis and husband Steve Olson, Kirsten Harkonen, Wesley Alan Harkonen and Eric DeSobe; Step-Grandchildren, Brian Estey and Melinda Skalicky; nine Great Grandchildren; Daughter-in-law, Barb Lewis, Chaska, MN, Son-in-law, Dr. �W. Scott Harkonen,� San Francisco, CA; Brothers, Jim (Emily) Henderson, Coral Springs, FL and Gordon (Dee) Henderson, Forest Falls, CA. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Eri, Daughter, Mary DeSobe and Son-In-Law, Dennis Cassano. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010at 3:00PM at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Friends may call at the church from 1:30PM until the time of the service.
