Dorothy worked as a nurse at Fort Memorial Hospital and Fort Atkinson Medical Center. She continued to volunteer at the hospital after she retired in 1997. In the community she volunteered at Red Cross Blood Drives, helped with adult respite care, and danced with the Twilight Tappers.
