Obituary of John Frank Schroeder

John Frank SCHROEDER, age 85, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the Willowbrook Nursing & Rehab, in Lake Mills, WI. John was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin on April 18, 1925, the son of George G. and Euphorsine (Endl) Schroeder. He served his country in the U.S. Army During WWII. He received a Purple Heart, a Combat Infantryman Badge, a Distinguished Unit Badge, a Good Conduct Medal, an American Theater Ribbon, a World War II Victory Medal, and a European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Two Bronze Service Stars. On June 17, 1950, John married Margaret A. Boos in Sullivan, Wisconsin. John worked for nearly 40 years at the Jefferson County Highway Department. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, the Father Alfred Endres Knights of Columbus Council #3396, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Edwin Frohmader VFW Post #1879. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and caring for bird houses. �Surviving are: Wife: Margaret A. Schroeder. John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Joseph and Paul, and three sisters: Helen Werner, Rosemary Strauss, and Stella Herbst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010, at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson with Father Jay Poster celebrating. Burial with military rites will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 3-6PM on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson and after 10:00AM on Monday at the church until the services.
