Obituary of Morris William Beck

Morris William BECK, age 84, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2011, at the Willowfield Nursing & Rehab Center, in Delavan, WI. Morris was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on May 19, 1926, the son of William and Marvel Beck. He attended school in Menasha, Wisconsin, graduating on June 7, 1944. Morris entered the U.S. Navy on June 12, 1944. He attended various Navy schools and served on the USS LSM496 in the Pacific where the ship was getting ready for the invasion of Japan when the war ended. He was discharged in March of 1946 with the rank of Gunner's Mate Third Class. On June 19, 1948, Morris married Dorothy Brunn in Menasha. Morris began working for Schultz Brothers Co. Variety in 1942 while still in school. He returned to work for them when he was discharges from the Navy at the Neenah store. Morris was transfered to the Harvard, Illinois store in June 1947, where he served as manager. In February 1949, he moved to manage the Whitewater Wisconsin store. Morris left the Schultz Brothers Company in March of 1970 to work for Winchester Hardware in Whitewater. He semi-retired in June of 1991, but continued to work part time for Winchester Hardware. Surviving is his Son: William Morris Beck, Whitewater, WI. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy and a sister Marion. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 11:00AM at the First English Lutheran Church, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10AM on Saturday at the church until the services.
