Obituary of Judy M. Schopen

Judy M. SCHOPEN, age 65, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Madison, WI after a short battle with cancer. Judy was born in Whitewater, Wisconsin on August 28, 1945, the daughter of Arnold and Lilah (Sutherland) Christenson. She graduated from Jefferson High School. On August 7, 1970, Judy married Thomas Schopen at the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater, WI. Judy and Tom owned and operated Schopen Automotive Service in Whitewater for more than 40 years. Judy was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater. Judy loved spending time with her family and the time she spent with husband in Molokai, Hawaii. She also served many years as a leader for TOPS and as a volunteer at Touched by a Paw. Surviving are: Husband: Tom Schopen, Whitewater, WI, Three Daughters: Tomi (David) Schaitel, Janesville, WI, Jona (Jerry Wendt) Schopen, Janesville, WI, and Cindy (Tim) Krueger, New London, WI, Grandchildren: Terry, Ryan, Chelsea, Abby, Tyler, & Brady, Sister: Donna Wegner, Stoughton, WI, Brother: Leonard Christenson, Stigler, OK and many close friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and a son Brian. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 24, 2011, at 11:00AM at the First English Lutheran Church, Whitewater, WI. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery, Town of Richmond, Wisconsin with luncheon to follow. Friends may call after 9AM on Monday at the church until the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the American Heart Association or the the American Cancer Society.
