Obituary of Ernest Frederick Roost

Madison- Ernest (Ernie) Roost, age 96, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Hospice Care, Inc. He was born October 4, 1914 in Dwight, Illinois, the son of Marius and Bertha (Reinlassoder) Roost. He was married to Mary Evelyn Christensen on February 22, 1944. He attended Dwight High School. He farmed in Illinois until he and Evelyn moved to Cambridge, Wisconsin to operate the Roost Motel. Later, he worked at Melster Candy Co and Dana Corporation. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cambridge and later of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Evelyn, his son, Allan (Patricia) Roost and daughters, Sr. Charlotte Roost, OSF, Mary Beth (Gregory) Crews, Annette (Mark) Mathews, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wayne Roost and two sisters Dorothy Herman and Louise Foss. Ernie enjoyed fishing, making wooden projects, gardening, but most of all, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 12PM, Friday, February 11, 2011, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Madison, with a funeral luncheon to follow. Burial will be at the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Cambridge. Friends may call from 7 PM to 8 PM. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Madison and from 10AM to 12PM on Friday at the church until the time of the funeral mass.
