Obituary of Carl Edward Hartwig

Carl Edward HARTWIG, age 92, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the Fort Atkinson Hospital, in Fort Atkinson, WI. Carl was born on December 26, 1918 in Jefferson, Wisconsin the son of Otto Herman and Elma Ida (Hake) Hartwig. On July 15, 1950 he married Dorothy Gertrude Wollet in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Carl worked as a field service technician for Jamesway-Butler Manufacturing for 43 years before retiring. He traveled the world for his job seeing 50 states and 5 continents. After retiring, he traveled extensivly with his Wife, Son and family. Carl enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, and traveling. Surviving are his wife: Dorothy Hartwig; son: Robert (Leanne) Hartwig; 2 grandsons: Lukas and Noah Hartwig; granddaughter: Bethany Hartwig, all of Fort Atkinson; 2 sisters-in-law: Mary Hartwig, of Fort Atkinson, and Margie Hartwig, of Bushnel, IL. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carl was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Leland Hartwig, LaVerne Hartwig, and Wesley Hartwig; and sister-in-law: Elsie Hartwig. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Jefferson. A luncheon will follow the services and burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin. Friends may call from 5-7PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, WI and after 10AM on Thursday at the church until the services.
