Obituary of Charles James Polglaze

Charles "Chuck" James Polglaze, age 68, of Whitewater, died February 28, 2011. Chuck was born on August 30, 1942 in Janesville, WI to James and Alice (Boon) Polglaze. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1960, and from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a BA in Accounting in 1965. On August 14, 1965 he married Joan Race. Chuck worked as an accountant for Ray-O-Vac, Alpha Cast, Weiler & Co., Enerpac, and Rock County, retiring in 2007. Given the gift of a heart transplant in 1998, Chuck valued every day and reminded us all to do the same. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Whitewater. Chuck was an avid card player and loved reading. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his wife Joan; son, Dan (Pam Hermann); daughter, Jill; 3 brothers, Gary (Joanne), James "Spinner" (Margie), and Steve (Vera); sister-in-law, Judy Quandt; and numerous other relatives and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; sister, Sharon Hawes; and brothers-in-law, Ken Hawes and Ed Quandt. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital for the many years of excellent care and service, and most importantly the family of his heart donor. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at First English Lutheran Church, Whitewater at 11am with Rev. Steven Hansen and Rev. Jerald Wendt officiating. Visitation will be from 9am until the time of service at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to contribute to memorials that will be distributed by the family to charitable causes that were dear to Chuck.
