Obituary of Laurence L Sherman
Larry Laverne Sherman went to his eternal rest on March 15, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 22, 1932, to George and Elizabeth (Egnoski) Sherman in Whitewater, WI. After graduating from Whitewater High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served at various bases until his retirement in 1972. He married Kathleen Shook on April 20, 1957 and brought 5 children into the world. Larry was employed by UW Whitewater for 41 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, devoted father, and grandfather. He spent much of his free time in his beloved woods close to God and all his creatures. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on through those he leaves behind.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen Sherman, 5 children: Lon and (Vickie) Sherman of Fort Atkinson, Judith and (John) Cruckson of Hutchinson, MN, Jeanine Addie of Janesville, Loren and (Bonnie) Sherman of LaFarge, WI, and Lisa and (Fritz Trojanowski), Sherman of Cave Creek AZ. 20 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Brothers, Jim, and (Gayle) Sherman of Minot, SD, and Joe Sherman of Whitewater, WI. Sister-in-Law Jean Klement, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Elizabeth, brother Robert and Sister Irene.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at The First United Methodist Church, Fort Atkinson, visitation will begin at 9:30 am and run until the time of service at 11:00. A Christian burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Fort Atkinson. A luncheon will be served following the burial at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Larry’s name.
