Obituary of Susie Augusta Welter

Susie Augusta Welter, 89, Whitewater, passed away at Alden Estates in Jefferson on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Susie was born on October 19, 1932 in the Town of Hebron to Walter and Laura (Donnelly) Zimmerman.  She graduated from Whitewater City High School in 1950.  Susie married Raymond M. Welter on January 16, 1954.  He preceded her in death on April 5, 2016.  She worked at the American Legion in Whitewater as she coordinated the best Friday night fish fry!    She supervised staff that were family or became family figuratively and literally.  She later worked at Wal-Mart in retail and fabric.  Susie shared her expertise and kindness with the Whitewater community.  Susie enjoyed gardening, flowers, collecting owls, and salt and pepper shakers.  She made each person comfortable at her table with dishes and desserts too many to count.  She would say “What can I get you more of?”  She sent cards regularly to her family.  Susie added her ‘Grandma Welter love’ to each child that they will truly pass on to generations to come.
She is survived by her children: Raymond “Bink” (Rita) Welter, Whitewater, Sonia (Don) Troemel, Fort Atkinson, Sherry (Scott) Torrey, Necedah, WI; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Marc) Roe, Whitewater; grandchildren: Wyatt (Madeth Bueno) Welter, Weston (Jaime) Welter, Wendel (Ashley Bueschel) Welter, Tricia (Jeff) Smith, Rachel (Cody) Osborne, Evan (Taylor) Welter, Skyler (Victoria) Torrey, Shayne Torrey, Sarah (Anthony) Seebruck; great-grandchildren: Cleo, Westoriah, Jax, Rylee, Raylyn, Asher, Blake, Beau, Brentley, and Watson; her grand dog, Cooper.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son Randy; siblings: Earl and Walter Zimmerman, and Anna Mae Jaquith.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00am at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N. Newcomb St. Whitewater, WI 53190.  Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00am until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.nitardyfuneralhome.com.  Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater is assisting the family.
