I met Bob in painting classes at the Fort Atkinson Senior Center. I loved his sense of humor and his pride and love for his family. He was always supportive of me when my son was serving in Afghanistan/Iraq, which I greatly appreciated. He saved the day for me when I was managing the art exhibits at First Citizens Bank and I had an artist exhibitor “no show”. He graciously agreed to let me show his artwork. Bob had a flare for painting barns and lighthouses and his style was quite good. He will be missed.

My name is Dan Scherer; I live in San Diego with my family, but grew up in Whitewater. Bob worked with my father, Dave Scherer, during his time at Hawthorn-Mellody dairy. In later years, after my father passed, Bob was a great friend to my mother, Alice Scherer, and never more so than during her final years as she battled cancer, when they both lived at Fairhaven. He visited her, dined with her, brought her the church program on Sundays when my mother was unable to attend church services in person, and shared stories of my dad with her. I, with my wife and daughter, had the pleasure of meeting Bob while visiting my mother and we all immediately liked him. I had the pleasure of cooking dinner for Bob and my mother one night and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner conversation. In subsequent visits to Whitewater we always made a point of stopping by Bob's room at Fairhaven for a visit and to view his latest painting. We regret that due to covid we have been unable to visit Wisconsin, and Bob, since February 2020. He was a kind and generous man and you are so fortunate to have had him in your lives for so many years. Please accept our condolences on your loss.
Dan Scherer, Dee-dee Drewrey, and Emily Scherer.

So sad to see such a gentle soul leave us all. I can remember Bob when Trianna and I were playing softball, I believe in grade school. He is the person that gave me the nick name Slugger. Then later in life I would see him at the hospital. He always made sure that she stopped me to say Hello an see how I was doing. It was so sweet of him. Always joking around with me. So glad that I met him early in life and got to know him.
He will surely be missed. My thought and prayers go out to the family.

I first met Bob when he, Ron Hake and I coached Triana on a basketball team at Barrie School. He wa
s always (and continued to be) a very cheery, caring, gentleman with a great sense of family pride. He and I met at various events after our introductory years and naturally he continued to be that very special person. Prayers and sympathies to the family. He will be missed by many.
