Obituary of Andrea Dunsmoor

   The Lord, her Savior, called Andrea R. Dunsmoor to her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Andrea was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 26, 1950 to Lynn M. and May J. (Wagner) Dunsmoor. She grew up in the north woods of Wisconsin, where she enjoyed swimming and canoeing on Boom Lake in the summer, and skating in the winter.

   Andrea attended Lakeside Lutheran High School, Wisconsin Lutheran College, and Martin Luther College, where she earned her teaching degree. She served her Lord gladly as a Lutheran elementary school teacher for 42 years. She especially enjoyed teaching writing workshops and art education. Over the years she coached and mentored 26 student teachers. One of her proudest achievements came in 1996 when she earned her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.

   After retiring from teaching in 2014 Andrea spent many hours volunteering at the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry, St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Crown of Life Christian Academy. She enjoyed traveling, especially her two trips to Europe, reading, the art of calligraphy, cheering on the Packers, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

   Andrea was a kind, thoughtful, generous soul, with her final precious gift being that of organ and tissue donation. She was preceded in death by her parents, and niece, Krissy. She is survived by six brothers and sisters: Linda (Dick) Kyle of Fort Atkinson, Gary (Dawn) Dunsmoor of Spooner, Bonnie (Rick) Jaeger of Ixonia, Carole (Pat) Collins of Fort Atkinson, Bill (Lisa) Dunsmoor of Eagle River, and Lisa Dunsmoor of Fort Atkinson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, including her three God-children, Amy Sexton, Dave Jaeger, and Jesse Dunsmoor.

   A memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, WI at 3:00p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00p.m. As an expression of sympathy you may wish to consider memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church or Crown of Life Christian Academy.  Nitardy Funeral Home of Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
