Obituary of Mary Weiss

Mary G. Weiss, 99, Whitewater, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Fairhaven Senior Living in Whitewater, WI.

Mary was born on January 21, 1920 in Marathon, WI to Joseph and Anna (Stitz) Gahwandter.  She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School.  On August 25, 1941 Mary married Frank P.  Weiss at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on September 18, 2002. She was employed at Nasco from 1964 until her retirement in 1980.  Mary loved having the family over so she could cook large meals.  She was a caregiver who enjoyed playing cards, knitting and needlepoint and watching the Packers and Brewers. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson.

She is survived by her sons Richard Weiss, Fort Atkinson, WI, Roger (Theresa) Weiss, Florida; Grandchildren Chad Weiss, Colleen Lutz, Jamie Lutz, Mike Lutz, Traci McIntosh, Jeff Weiss, Robin ( Jason) Baker, Chris (Dana) Weiss, Jenifer Delfosse, Alanna Knoke, Kelly (John) Lavin, Frank (Jill) Weiss, Malia (Brian) Ladd, Chris (Joel) Oestreich, Steve (Jessie) Weiss; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Son: Frank J. Weiss; Brothers:  Frank and Joseph Gahwandter; Sisters: Annie Haberl and Frida Lehman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 12:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd. Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.  Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00am until the time of the service.  As an expression of sympathy you may wish to consider memorials to Mercy Hospice of Janesville.  The family would like to thank Fairhaven and Mercy Hospice for their loving care.
