Obituary of David Lynn Crandall

David Lynn Crandall, 64, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at his home in Fort Atkinson. Dave was born on February 11, 1953, in Fort Atkinson, to Russell and Nancy (Fleming) Crandall. He attended Fort Atkinson High School and graduated with the class of 1971. Throughout his years in high school, Dave competed in football, wrestling, baseball and track and field. Dave married Tina Koch on May 30, 1981. Prior to having children, Dave and Tina frequented many Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks games. Dave always had a passion for music, which led to them attending many concerts. He also enjoyed taking part in bowling league on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Dave was employed 20 plus years at Larsen Canning Company and later at Tyson Foods. His greatest joy was his four sons and watching them compete in sports throughout the years. He was a fixture in the top row of the bleachers on a Friday night at Blackhawk Stadium and could always be found at home baseball games in the press box of Jones Park, announcing and playing his music. He cherished his time upstairs in the press box with his crew of "misfits" talking about everything under the sun. His favorite job of all, however, was that of being a grandpa to his two granddaughters, Chloe and Mya. He would constantly send messages checking in on the two young girls, checking in on their day, and requesting new pictures almost daily! He took every opportunity possible to make the two hour trip to visit the girls and see them. He always liked bird watching with Chloe and looking for the mythical "green cardinal." Dave is survived by his wife, Tina; children, Justin (Mary) Crandall of Port Edwards, Josh Crandall of Fort Atkinson, Marcus (Abbie Hildreth) Crandall of Fort Atkinson, JoJo Crandall of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren Chloe and Mya Crandall; siblings, Charles (Sue) Crandall, Linda (Rick) Stroede, Sue Crandall, Tony (Lisa) Crandall, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Crandall; and mother, Nancy, and her husband, Bill Hatch. A celebration of Dave's life will take place at the American Legion Post 166 in Fort Atkinson from 5-8pm on Thursday, November 9. All attendees are encouraged to wear their Blackhawks and/or Generals gear. In true to Jones Park fashion, brats and burgers will be available. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, WI is assisted the family.
