Obituary of Ruth M Simdon

Ruth Marie Simdon, 82, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek on Thursday, January 11, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born November 23, 1935, to Bernard and Elsie (Kreklow) Krause. She graduated from Ft. Atkinson High School in 1953. On July 3, 1954, she married Ronald Simdon of Cambridge. Ruthie was a stay-at-home mother for much of her adult life. When the kids were all grown, she and Ronnie built Pyramid Liquor & Motel where she worked until they sold the business in 1998. She enjoyed baking, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, playing cards and cheering on the Packers. She was thoughtful, hardworking, and selfless and had a laugh we will never forget. She had a special way of touching everyone she met with her humble, caring ways. We were blessed to be able to celebrate her Thanksgiving birthday and Christmas Day with her this past year. She is survived by her husband Ronnie of Cambridge, and their children: Janet (Norbert) Peitz, Lake Mills; Nancy (Bill) Van Lanen, Waupaca; Mary, Ft. Atkinson; Scott (Amy), Cambridge; Mark (special friend, Karen Messier), Cambridge; Jill (John) Dundee, Janesville and Dan, Cambridge. Grandchildren: Andy (Lisa) Werner, Lake Mills; Emily (Steve) Alexander, Lake Mills; Cindy (Ken) Bockhop, Roxbury, Jennifer Simdon, Cambridge, and Katherine (Joey) McGuire, Mt. Horeb. Great grandchildren: James, Lizzy and Emma Bockhop and Hannah Alexander. She is further survived by siblings Mary Higgins, Whitewater; Dorothy Sherman, Cambridge; Jerry Krause (special friend, Sheila Tippins), Fort Atkinson; Eileen (Ken) Cluver, Ft. Atkinson, Jeanne (Bob) Druhn, Waukesha and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law Ernest and Mary Simdon. She was also preceded in death by in-laws Mert Higgins, Howard Simdon, Wilfred and Mildred Simdon, Vernon Simdon, Gordon and Betty Simdon, Franklin and Ida Simdon and Arlene Turpin. Per Ruthie's wishes, there will be no formal service. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday, January 20, at the American Legion 129 S Main St. Lake Mills WI. from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. If desired, memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice.
