Obituary of Charles H. Bardenwerper

Charles H. Bardenwerper, DDS Bardenwerper, Charles H., DDS, "Charlie", of Fort Atkinson, WI, age 92, died on Saturday, February 03, 2018 at the Reena Senior Living residence. Beloved father of Chuck, Mark (Marianne) and John (Judy); and legal guardian of Barbara Elwood. Charles had eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving sister, Karla Gern of Saint Germain, WI; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bardenwerper of Louisville, KY, Carol Bardenwerper of Wauwatosa, WI and Dorothy Bardenwerper of Cleveland, GA. He is also sorely missed by his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hulbert E. and Hazel Ruth (nee Karls) Bardenwerper; his four brothers, H. William, James, Thomas and Fred; and his brother-in-law, Richard Gern. Charles was born on January 11, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Wauwatosa High School, earned his Bachelor's degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, and completed dental school at Marquette University in Milwaukee. He served in the U.S. Navy and Army as 1st lieutenant from 1944 to 1949. Soon after, he and his wife, Geraldine (nee Bauer) moved to Fort Atkinson. He practiced dentistry there for his entire career and was an active member of the American Dental Association. Charles was a devoted member of Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, lovingly serving the Lord in innumerable capacities. He was a loyal member of Fort Atkinson Rotary Club, being honored by his fellow Rotarians for his 50 years of outstanding service. Charlie had a passion for music. He participated in the restoration of church organs and relocation of these valuable instruments. His family and friends will always remember him for his caring and compassionate nature, his readily helping hands and his delightful sense of humor. Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, February 9, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 302 Merchants Avenue, Fort Atkinson. Visitation from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m, funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Internment Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Charlie's life.
